Check out the pictures of jewelry the size of big bolder rocks around the neck. Cool. I like big jewelry. :P

Metal Buttons
I bought some beautiful metal buttons for craft work. Thank you Doris for searching your store for them. My students are going to have a field time creating the knights in shinny armour with them. I'd try to get pictures of the Metal buttons to put up.

Day 2 of Workshop with ST Luke Eldercare, ITE West, South West CDC
Just back from day of workshop with St Luke. All the Ah Gong, Ah Mah were all sporting enough to work on Snails. The snails all come in various shapes and sizes. And most come with pretty smiles. There's even a Ah Mah who was good at creating what I see as some sort of fungi flower. She was so intent at creating the 6 sprongs of the fungi that it was a sight to behold. Can't believe that she can still do such dainty work at that age. Nothing is impossible as long as you set your mind to it. I am impressed by her artwork.
Today, there were 38 elders there. And two photographers. The ITE students even gave me certificate of appreciation. And even got a gift from the Elder Centre.
I love this job. Now I understand the PA's ideology of teach because you love teaching. It's tiring but worth every minute and sweat that the ITE students and I put into it. I think in this case, they sweated more than me. :p. Thanks girls. Keep in touch.

Workshop with ST Luke Eldercare, ITE West, South West CDC
Just completed the first set of clay workshop with the senior citizens at St Luke Eldercare (West Coast).
The ITE students and teacher were especially helpful and were able to engage the elders there in creating wonderful artwork using iClay.
It is a good thing that Peoples Association is supporting such activities.
At the end of the day, I feel good. Unfortunately for me. I ended up missing my lunch. Just had some biscuit when I got back to office.

Stint at Singapore Art Musuem Canceled And Paper Marche Project
Long story. My workshops at Singapore Art Musuem has been canceled. Anyway, the "Mr Eggy" Paper Marche will appear at Clay Doodle Shop instead.
They are very easy to do. Materials required are
1) Newspaper tear into long strips
2) A plastic basin to hold the glue
3) Tapioca Starch
4) Boiling Water
5) Emulsion Paint
To make the glue, first pour half cup of starch into basin. Pour in less than 1/5 cup of water to disolve the starch. Pour in 1 cup of Boiling hot water and stir. The starch will coagulate into glue. It is very obvious when the starch cooks, because it will turn a clear and be very sticky. If you have poured in too much water, the glue will become too watery. So, be careful.
Theafter, apply glue on the strips on paper and start creating your artwork.
For painting, I recommend emulsion paint. Apply at least two coats.
Do wait for the your paper marche to dry first before applying the paint.
As emulsion paint is water based, it is easy to clean off. And does not have the yucky smell.
Estimate at least 2 to 3 days to complete your work.
It is fun. Watch out for pictures of my Mr Eggy.

Lampwork Beads and Pendants
We have brought in some gorgeous lampwork glass pendants / beads. They are beautiful. Unfortunately, I can't keep any of them except one. Gave it to my wife who loved it. More to come. Check them out at the store.
BTW, these are not those mass produced ones from sweatshops in china but handmade by respective glass artist around the world.
The coral beads are the best among the lot. Don't miss them. Ask the store manager where they are displayed.

Swarovski Training the Trainer Workshop
Just attended a workshop conducted by Swarovski staff. It was fun, especially creating bracelets. Check out some of the beautiful pieces created by me. It gives me to necessary skill sets to teach projects involving swarovski components. A big thank you to Caroline Raider for organising the workshop. And Swarovski Singapore for sponsoring in full the workshop fees.

iclay Projects
Managed to create the following iclay cards as samples for the workshop next week. Got to train the 70 secondary one school boys to reproduce similar artwork for sale at Vivocity. Don't let me down boys.
As I was producing these are work, a very intelligent 5 year old girl came by and asked plenty of questions on iclay projects.
I am very much into iclay at the moment because it gives me the creative freedom to express myself. :P

Playdoh Supplies are in
A new batch of Playdoh toys are in. They are wonderful toys that all kids should be exposed to. Get the refill packs should suffice. And use whatever things you have at home as tools.
I remember growing up playing with ants. These days, kids screem when they see ants.
Get back to basics and get your kids hands messy. It helps in their creativity and development into intelligent adults.
The new batch of playdoh includes an octopus set. Your kids can have fish flipping fun with it.
I had to push two trolleys to get the stuff to the shop. Sweat man.

Field report on Swarovski Innovation Spring Summer 2009 Presentation at their Singapore Head office at Delta House.
Just came back from Swarovski Presentation on their Spring Summer Collection. This is one of the first official briefing session they organised in a year. Usually, the swarovski lady personally comes by to present, today, she had to present to a large group of customers. It was fantastic. Really interesting.
Can't wait for our shop to carry their new crystal components. I especially like their coral pendants. They are pretty. I personally like the three sprigs one the best (aka article number 6790.) The two sprigs does quite tingle for me (Aka Article number 6791)
There is a new cosmic Triangle pendant (4737) which gives th square cosmic pendant a run for the money.
Those who can afford doing up an entire bracelet using swarovski pendants, might want to check out their keystone bead (5181). It comes with two holes which allows zigzag shaping of crystals.
For those into 3-D animals, you can say bye bye to seed beads and use 2.5mm 5301 bicone beads. Personally, I love 3-D animal beading because of the satisfaction of being able to read the schematic drawings of the creators. Am into 3-D doggy (aka snoopy at the moment.) Understand that it won't be costing as much as 3mm/4mm 5301 which is a horray for all 3-D beaders.
The three new colors introduced are also to look out for. (Mocca, Crystal Deep Brown Pearl, Sand Opal. I like Deep Brown Pearl the best because it reflects the theme "Go Slow" the best.)
So many projects to do, so little time. email me if you like to know more about the new range of products.
